Jeremy A. Lieberman, Pomerantz’s Managing Partner, led the high-profile class action, In re Petrobras Securities Litigation, in which Pomerantz, as sole Lead Counsel, achieved a historic $3 billion settlement for the Class in early 2018. The case arose from a multi-billion-dollar kickback and bribery scheme involving Brazil’s largest oil company, Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. – Petrobras. The Petrobras settlement is the largest securities class action settlement in a decade, the largest settlement ever in a securities class action involving a foreign issuer, the fifth-largest securities class action settlement ever achieved in the United States, the largest securities class action settlement achieved by a foreign Lead Plaintiff, and the largest securities class action settlement in history not involving a restatement of financial reports.
Jeremy recently achieved a $110 million settlement, pending court approval, in a securities class action against on one of the world’s largest car manufacturers, Fiat Chrysler N.V., for allegations that the company misled investors about its compliance with regulations for safety recalls and emissions. In late 2018, Jeremy achieved an $80 million settlement in a class action litigation against Yahoo! Inc. arising from the largest data breaches in U.S. history. He led the Firm’s team that in 2018 secured a $31 million partial settlement in In re Libor Based Financial Instruments Antitrust Litigation, a closely watched case concerning the London Interbank Offered Rate rigging scandal.
Jeremy was named Benchmark Litigation’s 2019 Plaintiff Attorney of the Year. In 2018 he was honored as a Law360 Titan of the Plaintiffs Bar and a Benchmark Litigation Star.
