Laurent graduated from the Institute of Political Studies of Paris and holds a Master’s degree in business law from the University Pantheon – Sorbonne; he also followed CESA Strategic Management (HEC Group).
He joined Société Générale as a fixed income market-maker in 1986, was responsible for Treasury and Foreign Exchange of the Credit du Nord group, before moving to emerging capital markets activities of Societe Generale in 1998. He then developed this activity for the Crédit Agricole group in London from 2002 to 2006.
After a short entrepreneurial experience, he joined the Risk Division of Société Générale at the beginning of 2008.
Laurent was Deputy Head of the Risk Department for Financial Institutions, Country and Private Banking from May 2010 until January 2014. He became then Global Head of Public Affairs at Group level.
He has been a professor at Paris Dauphine University since 1992 and a member of the Société d’Economie Politique since 1995. In 2017, he was appointed to be a member of the Jury for admission to the French Ecole Nationale d’Administration, in charge of European affairs.
